How to Recover Memory Card on Linux

A friend accidentally deleted some photos directly from his digital camera and asked for help to recover his memory so that the deleted photos could be retrieved. After googling the application to recover photos from a memory card on Linux, I finally got the name of the application, namely photorec. Photorec is part of the testdisk application. Here’s how to use it:

1. Install the photorec application on Ubuntu

2. Insert the memory card then run photorec

3. Select device memory card /dev/mmcblk0, Proceed

4. Select No parity [Whole Disk], Search
photorec

5. Select Other FAT filesystem
photorec

6. Select the location to save the recovered files, press C to select a folder
photorec

7. The recovery process starts
photorec

8. The recovery process is complete
photorec

The memory card that I recovered is 8GB with a recovery duration of 30 minutes and all deleted photos can be recovered.

good luck
